Beautiful large antique toolbox with patina galore! The layers of different colored paint wearing off are genuine, not faked. Beautiful folk design painted on inside of lid---design was popular from mid 1700's to mid 1800's. Four removable tool compartments. Interior and bottom are clean. Original thick iron inset handles. Sturdy, strong, sturdy. And strong.
42" long x 27" deep x 19" high.
LID IS NOT ATTACHED TO BOX. (Lid is being held open in photo of open chest.) This is a good thing if you want to use it as a coffee table, since the inside of the lid is where the beautiful folk design is, and not having the lid hinged makes the top rest perfectly level. Just invert the lid (as in the first several photos) to use as a table-- place glass on top, if deisred. If you want to use it as a tool/storage box, you may want to attach hinges.
