Back in 1967, Robert Kunkel and Red Brummell opened up the first Village Inn Pizza Parlor on 28th St. in Grand Rapids. Their idea was to provide a restaurant that had good beer, good pizza, and a fun family-friendly atmosphere.
Sing-a-Long sessions were a big part of the experience.
The restaurant soon branched out and had locations in other parts of Grand Rapids, Muskegon, Holland, and Walker.
During the sing-a-long sessions, patrons could buy songbooks for a dime that contained 90 song lyrics to participate in the fun.,
You probably know most of the songs listed, but there are a few that were new to me such as The Whiffenpoof Song, Ma, My Gal Sal, and Sioux City Sue. There are also fight song lyrics from Notre Dame, U of M, Western Michigan U, and M.S.U.
The booklets are made from heavier-stock paper and measure a bit over 7 x 10 inches.
As you can see from the photos, all four booklets are pretty much the same one looks slightly older) and in good shape.
